Usually by now, I’m itching for September to get here. Fall is my favorite season but I often say “oh I wish I had done (insert fun activity) this summer!” So before you start apple picking and enjoying the fall foliage with your kids, make a list of those last minute summer activities you want to soak up before school starts. First place to start…the fabulous beaches! Enjoy the cooler weather, the evening picnics and some last minute family time before the hustle and bustle of fall arrives. Here are our favorites!

It’s Halloween season!!! Once visual contact is made with a pumpkin in the early fall, all my kids can think about is Jack-o-lanterns. We have made it a ritual of going to the pumpkin patch for everyone to pick their very own pumpkin (you have to be able to carry your own pumpkin to make it truly yours!).

Once you arrive downtown, enjoy the Scarecrows! They are everywhere this year, all over Market Square, up Inn Street as well as most of State Street. Each is different and fun, and they are great to name or just admire. Stop in Market Square which is decorated with pumpkins and bails of hay.

This is it! My kids are three and a half and I am in need of time to get something done. Even if its just one thing … put the clothes sitting in the laundry basket away, make a homemade dessert, read my emails (and respond). In this case, I need to pack. What can I set the kids up with while I do this? Rather than taking out dolls, blocks, crayons and more, I am going to let them watch a movie!
