Yankee Homecoming is over, and the city seems to have all breathed a deep sigh. Is it a sigh of satisfaction or relief? Well, that really will depend on who you ask! Yankee Homecoming gets a lot of mixed reviews from the locals. It is a crowded week, that seems to emphasize our parking missteps… It is a week filled with loud nights, crowded sidewalks, and long waits to get eat in any of the restaurants. That said it’s a week that is generally filled with fabulous smiles and family activities abound, as this year’s theme emphasized it’s when the city can “Come Together”.

Kudos to the Yankee Homecoming organizers! It was a fantastic show tonight. We caught the lights from the new Clipper City Rail Trail with about a 1000 others! From our vantage point we could see that the Gillis bridge was packed as well as the new boardwalk leading to Cashman Park. From our perch (near the top of the stairs leading down to the boardwalk) it looked as though the show as being put on just for us.

Just add water… There is a long history of concerts in the rain and young enthusiastic fans who slosh through mud and muck to hear their favorite bands. It wasn’t quite Woodstock, but Riverfront 2010 did have a fanatic kind of feel… with a family twist. Rain parkas and tarps seemed to be mandatory attire, as were smiles!
