Summer Brilliance by Joanna Hammond

Bridge Gallery in Newburyport, an artists’ cooperative, is celebrating its 6th birthday on Saturday, July 14 with a gallery reception  featuring live music by the Jazz Palette, a band whose drummer is gallery artist Tony Cerra.

The current show entitled “Summertime” will be on view as well as the work of five new new exhibitors in the gallery.  The exhibitors include 2 former Bridge Gallery artist/partners, Susan Spellman and Karla Cook.  Spellman is well known for her paintings of dancers and local scenes.  Cook has a reputation for her animal paintings and portraits.  New to the gallery is Larry Pumfrey who divides his time between Massachusetts and the west coast of Florida and Walter Marziarski who lives on Plum Island in the summers and on the east coast of Florida in the winters.  Both are accomplished artists who have received numerous prizes for their paintings.  The fifth artist, Mary Vallee, is a resident of Swampscott who has been painting and selling her work in the Boston area for several decades.  Vallee is also the mother of Janet Rossman, a Bridge Gallery artist/partner.
