Contest for all Newburyport Youth

Written by on April 10, 2012 in Announcements, Newsy

Yankee Homecoming in conjunction with Mayor Donna Holaday, is sponsoring a contest for all Newburyport youth.

What the Coast Guard Means to Me

Students are welcome to submit any form of media to help identify what the Coast Guard means to them. Students can draw, color, paint a picture, write a poem, an essay, or write about a personal experience with the Coast Guard, or use any other form of media.

The winners will be chosen before Yankee Homecoming. Their photo and winning entry will be entered into the Yankee Homecoming Program book. All entries will be displayed throughout the downtown during Yankee Homecoming and will be sent to active duty Coast Guard personnel at the event.

The winners will be acknowledged at the official ceremony on August 4, designating Newburyport as a Coast Guard City and the winner will be invited to walk the parade route with the Mayor and Coast Guard personnel on August 5.

The contest runs from April 15 through June 15, 2012. Judging will take place by grades and media. For further information please contact: Geri Dorr @ 978-499-2717

Good Luck!
Donna D. Holaday, Mayor
