Newburyport Five Cents Savings Charitable Foundation makes a 3-year $60,000 pledge to the Newburyport Education Foundation to create a new World Language Lab at the Newburyport High School
At a time when public schools are facing the challenge of cutting budgets the Newburyport Five Cents Savings Charitable Foundation continues its unwavering commitment to education excellence in local schools and makes a three-year pledge of $60,000 to the Newburyport Education Foundation for the new World Language Lab at NHS.
“We feel that there is no greater investment than the education of children,” said bank president and CEO Janice Morse. “In an increasingly global economy it is important for NHS high school students to have access to an effective World Language program which includes updated technology.”
The new NHS language lab will maximize the time spent in each of the four core skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing. It will provide a better assessment tool for teachers to measure students and allow for immediate and individual feedback. The technology and equipment consists of a teacher’s console, 26 student workstations, and Sony Virtuoso software.
