The Fab Four in Newburyport? Just close your eyes and “Imagine”
Firehouse to host Beatles’ tribute band All Together Now!
Perhaps the dateline should read February 1964. That was when four young men named John, Paul, George and Ringo crossed the Atlantic from the UK and life forever changed. Thirty years later Tommy Moore, Jeff Landrock, Ace Bailey and Bruce Hilton began to celebrate Beatles music with an interactive concert experience that never fails to get fans from 8- to 88-years young on their feet in this amazing tribute to the Fab Four. Listening to the way the members of All Together Now! sing all the old favorite Beatles tunes, it is almost possible to imagine that those four young men from Liverpool are invading our town before making their way to the Ed Sullivan Show to sing the then-number one U.S. single “I Want to Hold Your Hand.”
All Together Now! will appear at the Firehouse Center for the Arts, Market Square, Newburyport on Saturday, May 21 at 8pm as part of the Firehouse’s 10-for-20 Music Series, sponsored in part by the Institution for Savings. Hear all your favorite Beatles tunes performed by All Together Now! while original films and live images of the band and the audience are projected on a large screen, via a live-feed, to create the ultimate multi-media experience. Throw in a few TV commercials from the 60s throughout the performance and the tribute to the Beatle era is complete. Their extensive song list reflects the Beatles entire repertoire and career: from Twist and Shout to Sgt. Pepper to Abbey Road, and includes all orchestral arrangements — complete with a real sitar!
This promises to be a fun and memorable evening and sure to bring back warm recollections for some, and perhaps provide a long-overdue introduction to the lads who influenced a generation the world over to others. Come see why All Together Now! easily crosses generational lines and why The Beatles continue to occupy a special place in the hearts of fans young, old, and in-between. This performance is part of the Firehouse’s 10-for-20 Music Series. This series was created to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Firehouse and to highlight the community arts organization’s mission by recognizing those individuals who were instrumental in the foundation and growth of the Firehouse. Sponsored in part by the Institution for Savings, the 10-for-20 Music Series will consist of ten musical groups or individuals that hail from the surrounding area who will perform in concerts scheduled throughout the calendar year 2011.
