INSTITUTION FOR SAVINGS 7TH ANNUAL GIRLS HOLIDAY BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT TIPS OFF DECEMBER 28TH
AT TRITON REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
The 7th Annual Institution for Savings Girls Holiday Basketball Tournament tips off on Tuesday, December 28 at a new venue this year: Triton Regional High School. The two-day tournament pits four of the area’s premier girls’ teams against each other: Triton, Newburyport, Ipswich and Manchester-Essex. Games begin both nights at 6 PM.
Also featured during the Tournament is a free 1-hour Youth Basketball Clinic, hosted and run by the Triton Girls Basketball Team. The Clinic takes place on Tuesday from 4-5 PM in the Triton gymnasium. Participants will receive free t-shirts as well as pizza and drinks at the conclusion of the Clinic. The Clinic is open to all aspiring youth basketball players in the area and no pre-registration is required.
“We are pleased to sponsor this great holiday tradition again this year,” said Michael J. Jones, president/CEO of the Institution for Savings. “This is the first year that we will begin rotating the location of the Tournament: in past years it has been held at Ipswich High School, but we thought it would be nice to give the other teams in our market the chance to host on a rotating basis. It’s a great venue in which to showcase girls’ high school basketball, and we are happy to be a part of it.”
Tuesday’s first game at 6 PM will feature Newburyport against Ipswich, with Triton and Manchester-Essex taking the court at 7:30 PM. On Wednesday, the losing teams will play each other in the consolation match at 6 PM followed by the Championship game at 7:30. All-Tournament Team and Championship awards will be presented at the conclusion of the championship game.
