An intelligent drama, peppered with biting humor, 96 Tears is set in early 1960’s northern Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C. Mr. Hennessy’s play focuses on a time just prior to the onset of significant changes in modern institutional psychiatry. The story takes place in a world where personal and societal chauvinism condone abuse under the guise of therapy. A family strains against the forces of professional ambitions and emotional dysfunction. Secrets are revealed and hypocrisy is confronted as the next generation stakes its claim on the American Dream. This play contains adult themes.

During the run of the production of 96 tears photographer, Jeremy Barnard will be exhibiting photographs in the theatre from Danvers State Hospital.

The show is funded in part by Anna Jacques Hospital, Newburyport, MA. Wheel Chair Accessible.
