Lully Schwartz’s memories of favorite summer places are sure to stir some fond memories of your own.

"American Farmhouse - A 2nd Look" - Lully Schwartz

…I paint mostly from memory using instinct to guide my painting process.” It would seem that all neurons are firing properly in the brain of Lully Schwartz. To look at her images one is immediately transported to those magical places in our own memories: a barn lazing in warm sunshine that seems to buzz with the summer sounds of country insects, a farm house with such a big sky that we are tempted to lie right down and start pointing out Rorschach images as we did when we were young, or a seaworthy vessel whose varnished sides seem to playfully reflect the gently lapping waves – the sound of which calls us to our own favorite summer places, wherever they may be.

Perhaps an accurate test of a painter’s ability to share their vision can be measured somewhat quantitatively by how many of us are willing to follow along. Her instincts about her memories of past summers spent in New England must be spot-on as she easily gathers willing viewers to step into the paintings and, by following her, follow their own individual paths to favorite places in the heart and mind.

A New England summer is a joy to behold… especially when it has found its way onto Schwarz’s canvas.
