Delia O’Connor, President and Chief Executive Officer of Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, received the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) 2010 Massachusetts Healthcare Executive of the Year Award at the Massachusetts Hospital Association Annual Meeting held recently in Chatham, MA.
The 2010 Massachusetts Healthcare Executive of the Year Award recognizes ACHE affiliates who are experienced in the field and have significantly contributed toward the advancement of healthcare management excellence.
Ms. O’Connor’s accomplishments include a financial turn around of the hospital, moving it from five years of financial losses in the millions to five years of profits from operations, decreased waits in the emergency department, dramatic improvements in patient satisfaction (as ranked by the national firm Press Ganey) in several hospital departments including the ED and the Birth Center, the successful completion of a medical office building on the campus of the hospital, the creation of the first cancer center in the Newburyport area, attracting new physicians and specialties to Anna Jaques, and an improvement in the work environment that led to the hospital being named in the top ten of the Boston Business Journal’s 2010 Best Places to Work.O’Connor has served as President and Chief Executive Officer, Anna Jaques Hospital since 2005.
