Mother’s Club Donates $5000 to The Clipper City Rail Trail

Judy Speicher, President of the Newburyport Mothers Club presents a check for $5,000 to Geordie Vining, Senior Project Manager, of the Clipper City Rail Trail at acelebration event held at Cashman Park on Thursday afternoon, June 24.

The Newburyport Mothers Club selected the Clipper City Rail Trail as the recipient of proceeds raised though the club’s baby and maternity clothing consignment sales held over the last two years.

“We are very pleased to make this contribution to the Clipper City Rail Trail for all it brings to our community,” said Speicher. “In addition to providing families with a beautiful and safe environment for walking, biking and other outdoor activities, it makes downtown Newburyport and the waterfront more accessible to residents and visitors alike.”

“I am grateful that the Newburyport Mothers Club chose to raise funds in support of the Clipper City Rail Trail project,” said Vining. “With limited funding and ambitious plans for expansion, this donation will be put to good use for many people to enjoy.”

The Clipper City Rail Trail enhancement project will focus on adding park-like amenities, such as benches, sculptures, play equipment and signage, to the trail to enhance its existing beauty and uniqueness.The Newburyport Mothers Club will be recognized with other donors on a bronze plaque that will be placed along the trail.
