Newburyport-Today is pleased to welcome back local photographer Greg Nikas for our continuing series Word on the Street. Greg operates Sweethaven Portrait Studio at 25 Inn Street. He is an accomplished photographer, working with both corporate and private clients. We are pleased to have Greg join our team of contributors. This week Greg found Doni Ward playing her guitar on Inn Street. Doni is a senior at The Sparhawk School and a Newburyport resident.
Doni shared that her mother had an acoustic guitar and taught her how to play "Dear Prudence" when she was just 6 years old. She then took lessons for about 3 years and continued to teach herself. She now writes original songs and preforms at various open mike nights in the area.
Doni comes by preformance naturally both her parents sing and her father is a Bass singer in the Masterworks Chorale, in Cambridge.
Doni says she loves Inn St. because of all the people to perform for and also to just sit and hang out with her friends!
