Please support a fundraising project by artist Lisa Riordon and Newburyport area elementary school children to help Haiti’s children. We’ve been painting daily for almost 40 days with a simple premise… art of children… by children… for Haiti’s children.

Art has the power to heal. Together with almost 40 Newburyport Elementary School students from the Brown, Bresnahan and River Valley Charter Schools, Lisa Riordon has painted daily since the earthquake in January. The children painted the backgrounds to which Lisa then added figures in silhouette, preserving the amazing kid-created color and texture.
Through the generous support of The Firehouse Center for the Arts,LocalGinger.com, our schools, businesses and families in our community, all proceeds will directly benefit children in Haiti…
100% of the proceeds are going to Save the Children – Haiti Relief.
The staggering reality is that over one million children are orphaned or lost one parent in Haiti’s earthquake or aftermath. Save the Children’s immediate focus has included providing large children’s centers (day camps) where thousands of kids converge daily to reconnect with their peers and find support, nourishment, healthcare and education. Programs that protect and support these children are vital.

The Firehouse is displaying the entire collection of original paintings from Feb 19 – March 21. A special reception and benefit to celebrate Lisa and our local children’s effort will be held on Sunday, March 7th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. To purchase one of the original paintings or a print, please visit: http://joppacreative.blogspot.com/
We hope you will join us this Sunday at the reception to congratulate our children’s determination to make a difference and help build a brighter future in Haiti.
