A Sculpture Exhibit – THE HUMAN FORM
Alfred Moskowitz will exhibit his sculptures of the human form in full-body and portrait. His work has been entered into many juried shows both in Newburyport and New York City and over the years has won several awards.
Comments by judges on works that won awards at the NAA: John Stomberg, Chief Curator, Williams College Museum of Art, “A well observed and executed work demonstrating both skill and attention to detail.” Jim Zingarelli, Art Dept Chair, Gordon College, “I am taken by the great care of the sculptors hands that are tracked across the entire work.”
After serving in the infantry in WWII, Moskowitz taught Industrial Arts in the junior high schools in New York City for thirty years. He began to sculpt after leaving teaching and attended sculpture classes at the New York Academy of Art, the Parsons School of Design and at the State University of New York at Purchase.
He was one of the founders of the Alliance of Queens Artists and served on the Board of Directors for several years until he moved to Newburyport in 1990. He joined the Newburyport Art Association in 1991 and has served continuously since then as a member of the Board and as vice president for many years. He also started and ran a sculpture workshop at the NAA for thirteen years. He was honored in 2005 by the NAA as a lifetime member.
