March 10, 2010:
A note from Yankee Homecoming- updating this program.
“Due to overwhelming participation, Disney and the HandsOn Network have withdrawn their “Give a Day. Get a Disney Day.” program. Apparently they are close to reaching their goal of 1-million volunteers in 2010 and have suspended any future volunteer opportunities. Obviously this is very disappointing news for Yankee Homecoming. We did receive several e-mails of interest and so, we’ll be updating our website to encourage people to still get involved. The “Volunteer” link on the YH site will be updated soon. We apologize for any inconvenience to the readers of Newburyport-Today and appreciate your understanding in this matter.”
Yankee Homecoming (YH) has been approved by the HandsOn Network to participate in the “Give a Day. Get a Disney Day.” program. YH is proud to be the first non-profit in the area to be involved in this wonderful program.
What is “Give a Day. Get a Disney Day.”? It’s a program designed to encourage community volunteerism. And, by volunteering, Disney rewards you with a one day admission to a Walt Disney World © or Disneyland © theme park.
You may have seen recent television commercials promoting this program but, if you’d like additional information, please visit the HandsOn Network website at www.handsonnetwork.org/disney. Anyone interested in signing up must do so at www.DisneyParks.com. Or, you can contact Yankee Homecoming’s Director of Publicity, Michele Norton, at mishn16@comcast.net. “Come together” and volunteer for Yankee Homecoming and get a day at Disney!
