Newburyport-Today is pleased to welcome back local photographer Greg Nikas for our continuing series Word on the Street. Greg operates Sweethaven Portrait Studio at 25 Inn Street. He is an accomplished photographer, working with both corporate and private clients. We are pleased to have Greg join our team of contributors. Check out Greg’s Website, and look for him strolling around Newburyport snapping photos and asking “What’s the Word on the Street?”

Greg headed out on Tuesday as the snow was falling and found Kevin and his yellow Labrador Samantha out for a walk in Moseley Pines.

Kevin is one of the owners of Newburyport Pedicab. He moved to Newburyport from Western MA about 15 years ago to be closer to work. He founded Newburyport Pedicab with his “little brother” Blake Harris and all proceeds from the non-profit go to cancer research. Kevin got the idea for founding Newburyport Pedicab after riding with his sister on a tandem bike in the Pan Mass Challenge. Kevin said the bike might as well have been a rickshaw, since his sister was too busy snapping photos and gabbing to actually pedal. It was from there that Kevin got the idea for starting the Newburyport Pedicabs for the charity.

The snow fall made for a super happy dog on the day Greg caught up with Kevin and Samantha. The two clearly seem to enjoy each other! Kevin said that he loves to walk in Moseley woods with Samantha because it is so beautiful and peaceful. He added that he heads out a few times a day since he works from home.

It’s hard to imagine having this much energy a few times a day, but Samatha certainly looks up to the challenge!
