The Institution for Savings is collecting much‐needed funds for the earthquake recovery efforts in Haiti in all of its offices.

Additionally, the bank will match all funds collected from bank customers before March 1, 2010, announced President/CEO Mark F. Welch today.

“ The critical needs in Haiti are great, but they are also simple: food, water, shelter, and first‐aid supplies, “ said Mr. Welch in announcing the collection. “ The best way we can help is to
donate funds that will go directly to supplying these material needs. We are happy to be able to step up and do our part to assist.”

The funds collected in the Institution for Savings offices will be sent to the Clinton‐Bush Haiti Fund, a bipartisan non‐profit fund established by former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush at the request of President Obama to lead the collection effort here in the United States. One hundred percent of the funds will be used for these relief efforts. Additionally,President Obama signed emergency legislation late last week to make all donations to qualified US organizations collecting for Haiti between January 11 and March 1 deductible on 2009 taxes.
(This legislation applies to monetary donations only.)

Collection boxes are located in the lobbies of each of the bank’s offices: 93 State Street, 81 State Street and 68 Storey Avenue in Newburyport; 7 Bridge Road in Salisbury; 312 Haverhill Street in Rowley and 2 Depot Square in Ipswich.
