Newburyport-Today is pleased to welcome local photographer Greg Nikas for our continuing series Word on the Street. Greg operates Sweethaven Portrait Studio at 25 Inn Street. He is an accomplished photographer, working with both corporate and private clients. We are pleased to have Greg join our team of contributors. Check out Greg’s Website, and look for him strolling around Newburyport snapping photos and asking “What’s the Word on the Street?”

Since it's been so chilly out, Greg headed to March's Hill for his first edition of Word on the Street.

Father (Dan) and son (Gerig 22 months) head down the big hill to the delight of both.

Next up it's Mom's (Katchen) turn to hold on to Gerig!

In between runs, Greg found out a little about this fun family. Dan is from Durham, NH, has lived here for 13 years, he has been coming to Newburyport & PI all his life with his family to bird watch on the Refuge as well as bike ride and go to the beach.

Katchen is from Kansas and prior to moving to Newburyport she was living in San Francisco and working for Google. Dan dragged her here "kicking and screaming" 3 years ago, but now she "loves it". Her favorite place is Plum Island and the Refuge where she and Dan bike ride with their kids ride in bike trailers behind them.

Both Dan and Katchen agree that Newburyport is a great city to live in. They find Newburyport "family oriented", especially enjoying it's natural wonders like March's Hill, just minutes away from their house. This fun family of three recently expanded by one, 6 week old Luc, stayed home in the warmth of the house during this outing.
