What’s new at the Firehouse?
October is National Arts and Humanities Month, a coast-to-coast collective celebration of culture in America. Communities across the United States are joining together to recognize the importance of arts and culture in our daily lives:
· training in acting appears to lead to memory improvement through the learning of general skills for manipulating semantic information
· correlations exist between music training and both reading acquisition and sequence learning
· teachers whose students receive regular visual arts instruction report stronger academic skills on the part of their students, including increased retention, higher levels of student confidence, and more highly developed independent thinking skills.
· the arts can free us to think outside the box, a skill that may inspire the economist, the politician and the scientist to “see” new interconnections that will foster peace and prosperity
Here at the Firehouse we bring you theater, dance, music, visual arts — everything you need to build bridges and better brains. Come connect with the Firehouse and get those neurons firing. You never know what might come of it. Hope to see you at the theater.

Edge of Never
Fri, November 13 – TWO SHOWS! at 7pm and 9pm
Tickets: $10 All seats
The Edge of Never begins where ski films leave off, or never dared to go. While most of these movies rely on action and loud music to provide a momentary rush that quickly melts away, THE EDGE OF NEVER combines those elements with mythic storytelling to produce a film experience that’s fun, but also meaningful and memorable. The film The Edge of Never is based upon the book of the same name, and relates the true story of a young man, Kye Petersen, who traveled to Chamonix, France, to ski the route that killed his famous, big-mountain skiing father, Trevor Petersen.
