This is the last weekend to see the Fall Member’s Open Show at the Newburyport Art Association, the show closes on Sunday, so get down to see over 250 artworks in the Sargent and Harson galleries. The show includes all types of medis, oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, drawings, print, sculpture, fine crafts, mixed media, and photography. – Do a little early Holiday shopping before the show closes! Also at the NAA get down to see the Featured Artist Series, “In the Kitchen” which also closes on Sunday. The show features the food inspired art of Marjet Lesk, Susan Spellman, and Susan Stranc.

Joppa Flats continues it’s fun family programing with on Friday with Imagine, Sing and Learn, and on Saturday with Wings Over Water and What’s that Bird. All programs require preregistration, click here or call them at 978-462-9998.

Don’t miss The Story Detectives at the the Firehouse Center for the Arts, opening Friday evening with shows on Friday and Saturday nights as well as matinees on Saturday and Sunday. Click HERE for details.

On Saturday it’s the final Artwalk of the season, join 14 Galleries for this self guided tours, receptions at participating galleries will feature new works and light refreshments.Click HERE for a map and more information on Art Walk.

Saturday Evening you can head over to the Travels and Treasures Dinner and Auction, to benefit the Historical Society. The event is being held at Nicholson Hall, but there is an auction preview at the Cushing House on Friday. For more informationClick HERE or call them at 978.462.2681. Tickets are $60 ($10 less than last year) and the raffle items include, Red Sox tickets, Airline tickets, Trips and Get Aways, as well as Antiques.

Also on Saturday, join the St. John’s Masonic Lodge for an Oktoberfest – featuring the with Oberlaendler Hofbrau band alpen horn, traditional German meal and more. Admission is just $30; proceeds benefit Masonic’s Angel Fund to aid local children in need. Tickets are at Fowle’s Market and the Warren Street Market.

On Sunday, “Come if you dare!” to Joppa Flats Education Center for Fright Night. The coastline will be crawling with the undead in search of human flesh, and dark creatures of the abyss seep through our windows and under our doors. Ghoulish ghost stories, haunting cries from the marsh, disgustingly scary snacks, and more await you as All Hallow’s Eve draws near. Dress up is encouraged and snacks may be purchased, this program is for ages 7 and up, and preregistration is required. Click HERE.

Also on Sundays we always start our day at the Newburyport Farmer’s Market. We were excited to learn that the market will continue to be open through December. So head down to the Tannery for great produce, crafts, prepared foods and live music. It’s a great place to meet your neighbors and friends.
