Newburyport Today is welcomes back local photographer Mariah Gale for her weekly post. Please look for Mariah strolling around Newburyport snapping photos and asking “what’s the word on the street?”

Val and Meredith Selby, from New Hampshire and Rhode Island, walk their dog, Wooker, downtown. We spotted him from down the street- you can't miss a big, gorgeous white dog like that! "We're checking out the Purple Onion menu", they said and are "just visiting for the day!

Madison, 5, and Michael, 2 1/2, had just put out a blanket on the green for a picnic lunch. "We're from Haverhill, and down to play for the day," their mom said, and they couldn't wait to play with their new toys.

Maddy and Hubble, form Newburyport, greet each other on the waterfront. "They're fast friends", their owners said, and "pugs always seem to find each other, probably because they all look alike!".

Daniela, Chiara, Livia, and Michael, from Italy by way of Boston, enjoy the view of the Merrimac. "We're here for the day- it's gorgeous!". They had just spotted the tall ship "Alabama" docking at the boardwalk, and were hoping to see more boats go by.
