Newburyport Today is welcomes back local photographer Mariah Gale for her weekly post. Please look for Mariah strolling around Newburyport snapping photos and asking “what’s the word on the street?”

Meg Siliker photographing her daughter in a field

Meg Manion-Silliker, owner of Bluelime photography, from Newburyport, photographs her daughter, Annie. "The light here is perfect this time of day," and with a willing model, who wouldn't take advantage of that!

Caden DeLibero showing off his chestnuts

Caden DeLibero, 3, from Newburyport, collects chestnuts on Unicorn street with his mom. "We come down every Fall- I've got a whole bag full of these," his mom says, and Caden is happy to show his loot off to the camera!

Sophie, Emily, Connor, and Brayden posing with their moms

Sophie, Emily, Connor, and Brayden pose with their moms outside of the Monkey's Fist. "We just had lunch at Abe's, and we're headed down to the playground- which looks pretty crowded today!" The playground was definitely crowded, as it was the perfect day to be outside downtown.

Kailey posing for the camera

Kailey, from Newburyport, relaxes on a bench on the waterfront, outside of Oldie's Marketplace. "I'm on break from work, and it's beautiful out!" she said. The breeze on the water was perfect.

Mike playing his harmonica downtown Newburyport

Mike, a new resident of Amesbury, plays harmonica by the fountains downtown. "Oh yeah, I'm down here all the time, and play here all the time!" he said, and the sound of a harmonica was definitely fun to hear. We've heard harps, guitars, even bongos and harpsichords while photographing downtown, but a harmonica is a first!
