When they were 10 and 11, Emma and Katie O’Rourke contributed to a Thanksgiving food drive, volunteered at a local soup kitchen and sold home-made jewelry and headbands at their school to support an international hunger organization. A year later, they launched a website and clothing line to help food pantries in their backyard and across the country.

The Newburyport girls, with help from their parents, Tom O’Rourke and Sue Tabb, are on a mission to work together as a family to help hungry people, develop a successful business model, and find out what it takes to make a real difference. 50% of bread + butter profits will be donated to nonprofit organizations that help feed the hungry. Pettengill House, Inc. of Salisbury, MA is the first nonprofit partner and will benefit from all sales during the months of September and October.
