Orren's chickens up close

We found local resident Orren Fox through Twitter and were immediately impressed. Orren is a 12 year old boy with a clear passion for animals of all kinds, chickens in particular. He chronicles his love through his blog, Happy Chickens Lay Healthy Eggs and provides a wealth of information about breeds, habitat, and temperament. Orren is a committed vegetarian and through his blogging tries to show his reader the importance of ethical treatment of animals. He is at once heart felt and informative, without ever being preachy. Qualities that even more seasoned bloggers should strive to emulate!

Orren was kind enough to show us around his barn on a Saturday morning, it was a lovely visit.

Orren lives in Newbuyrport, but his chickens are housed in Newbury at Oak Valley Farm, which is run by Julie Price. Orren does sell his chickens eggs. Newburyport Today left with a dozen and they were fantansic! We hope that you stop by to visit Orren soon. This may be the one time that it pays to have a “Fox” in the hen house.
