By Way of introduction, Newburyport Today will be featuring a local resident every Tuesday with a Spotlight Post called Townie Tuesday. If you know someone who we should feature, please email us any suggestions – talk@newburyport-today.com. We are happy to be starting with local artist Alan Bull.

While Alan is originally from Maine, he has made his home here in Newburyport since 1992. He first moved to the area to work for Amesbury Glass Artist Dan Dailey. During this time Alan was spending more and more time in Newburyport and “pretty quickly” settled here. Alan says he was drawn to Newburyport because it already had a vibrant art community with an active Art Association. As a fine artist Newburyport also provides great inspiration. As Alan described it “It’s a perfect combination of city landscape surrounded by great rural character.”

Alan’s work is known for it’s diversified subject matter and his passion for rural motifs and landmarks.
